Cesarean Sections

👶Once I got the hang of C-Sections I started to really enjoy doing them more & more! I have done 2-3 twin Cesarean Sections & have some helpful notes I can share on them! My first was a surprise because we weren’t told they were having twins, so I had to scramble to figure out what extra supplies/instruments I needed.

The Surgical Tech Student

I had such a blast at my party after spending so long planning it. It turned out so cute & everyone loved it!! Excited to share some of the photos I took. 🙂

I have to be honest, though, I was surprised at how many people actually tried the shots & then went back for more. Then my husband’s grandma took extras of each flavor shot home to share with her friends!

Then I only got 10 IV bags to fill with Sprite because I didn’t think people would actually want to drink out of them. I also got an extra bottle of Sprite in case they wanted to use that & it didn’t even get opened.

I loved how they all embraced the medical aspects of it! ❤ Made me so happy. They all commented on how cute it was & much they loved it & how amazing everything…

Short Gamma Nail – On Call

🔨We ended up doing back to back Short Gammas (AKA: ORIF Hip Fracture)
🔨Our targeter is broken & a new one is ordered & we only have 2 sets of gamma trays so we had to one tray a targeter our rep brought into the tray with the missing targeter.
🔨BUT one of our newer people in sterile processing one trayed the instruments in the REGULAR TRAY instead of the ONE TRAYwhich is not right!! but the doctor told us to use it! My call team & I definitely did not agree that it was okay & were really bothered by it. 😵

anywho… here are some of my photos!! 🙂

Laparoscopic Jejunostomy – On Call

✂️This was a first for me: the procedure & working with the on call Doctor. I had to ask her what she needed for gloves, which scope she preferred, suture, etc.
✂️We grabbed extra supplies/instruments we thought she might want or need later on in the case, just in case she asked for them. We did, however, forget an extra pair of bowel graspers! 🤦
✂️Normally for these we wouldn’t use laparoscopic scissors so I didn’t grab any. I should have brought some in the room just in case. We did open a pair because she had to suture the jejunum up & used the knot pusher & needed lap. scissors to cut the suture at the end. It was cool to see, since I had never seen one done before. And it’s always intersting to see how every surgeon does it differently. I had not used laparoscopic needle drivers before, so that was interesting!! 😂

Laparoscopic Appendectomy – On Call

Our emergency Lap. Appy from our Holiday call. I finally had the chance to break out & get a good photo of one of these for my binder!! We don’t do them too often, but when we do it’s usually an emergency case.

I thought this would be a great opportunity to share my photos & some tips/tricks…
